About Our Rabbi

Our Spiritual leader is Rabbi Samuel Altschul. He received Smicha (Rabbinical ordination) from Harav Daniel Channen, Yeshivat Pirchei Shoshanim, Bnei Brak, Israel. He holds a Master's Degree in philosophy and a Bachelor's Degree in Comparative Religious Studies form Universities in Denmark along with a post graduate from the Machshevet Yisrael Department (Jewish thought and history of ideas) of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Also he has done extensive studies in the fields of pastoral care and counselling.

Rabbi Altschul was appointed Senior Rabbi to the Auckland Hebrew Congregation in August 2011. Previously he has worked for the Chief Rabbi's office in Copenhagen, Denmark and for communities in Melbourne, Australia.

He is married to Shosha and they have two boys.
