Welcome to Auckland!

Wherever you stay in this ‘City of Sails’, you’re never far from breathtaking scenery, beautiful beaches, invigorating walks, great shopping and exciting nightlife. As a Jewish traveller, we understanding it can often be difficult finding Kosher food or ‘Shabbat-friendly’ Accommodation in a foreign city. If you are looking for a place to stay, we recommend, for backpackers, the YMCA Hostel and, for luxury accommodation, the Duxton Hotel. Both are situated on Greys Avenue only a couple of meters from the Greys Ave Deli and Synagogue. The staff at the Duxton Hotel have also been trained to meet the requirements of Shomer Shabbat guests.

During your stay in Auckland, we hope you get a chance to visit our Deli and attend a service at the Synagogue (click here for service times this month).

Unfortunately, at this stage, we are unable to provide meals or accommodation in private homes as the Religious Community is still relatively small. As we continue to grow, we will undoubtedly be able to offer such hospitality in the future. In the meantime, you can contact the Greys Avenue Deli for Kosher Shabbat catering.

Welcome to the new Greys Ave Deli, Auckland’s largest stockist of Kosher food and only Kosher cafe. The Deli offers a wide range of Kosher specialty goods from all over the world including meat, chicken, cheese and fresh Challot every Friday. Also available in-store is the Kosher Kiwi Directory; a bound booklet listing Kosher brands available in Supermarkets throughout New Zealand.

With Shachrit services held every Monday and Thursday morning at 7am and Sunday morning at 9am, the Greys Ave Synagogue is Auckland’s only Orthodox Congregation. Kabbalat Shabbat services are held on Fridays at 6pm in the winter & 7pm in the Summer and Shabbat Shachrit service begins at 9:15am. Please contact the office if you are a traveller wanting to attend services so that Security can be given your details.
