Shabbat Shmini

Pesach was fun and delicious (some might say...) and we are happy to be back to business!
We enjoyed meeting up with different community members over the holiday and want to thank you all again for your ongoing love and support.
This week we stand tall for Yom Ha’Shoah. we remember, hurt and love those who were taken from us and at the same time, look into the future.
We feel extremely lucky and grateful to be here representing Israel, the one and only country ALL Jews can call HOME.
We are proud to have served in the IDF and to have taken our part in defending and maintaining a complicated yet outstanding home, Israel.
We are here to connect and strengthen the relationship between us Jews in NZ and us Jews in Israel.
So that we can truly and strongly say and believe, NEVER AGAIN.

LAST WEEK..

JNA

We squeezed in JNA this past week. It definitely wasn’t a fun or goofy one but instead a more serious, deep session.
Together, we watched the movie “Defiance” portraying the lives of partisans during the war. We also spoke about Yom Hashoah, the importance of remembering and what teens and young adults, living in 2021, can do to ensure we never forget.

Our teens shared their thoughts and feelings about Yom Hashoah and some shared family stories. We heard what it’s like in a non Jewish school and were surprised to hear some schools don’t teach about the Holocaust.

One teen shared a personal experience of being laughed at just for being Jewish and a mockery made of family killed in the Holocaust. We were saddened and disappointed to learn of the jokes being made about such a horrific war. That said, we were impressed to hear the teens stood up for themselves - this made a brave statement about being Jewish with pride. Thanks to all those who joined, it was meaningful and SO IMPORTANT. See you next time.

Yom HaShoah

We would like to thank everyone involved in the planning of the Yom HaShoah memorial ceremony. In our short time here, this year’s ceremony stood out as extremely special and moving.
Special thank you to Rob and Idit for always doing their best in bringing the most important days to us.
Todah Raba!
