Shabbat Chayei Sara
The Mazkirut and Chaverim of World Bnei Akiva are saddened and pained by the passing of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, one of the most important thinkers in the Jewish world. Rabbi Sacks was a member, a key educator and a great supporter of the Bnei Akiva movement. Many of the movement's educational materials have been based on the ideas and perspectives that Rabbi Sacks introduced to the world. A leading voice of contemporary Judaism inside the Beit Midrash and inside university halls.
“The best way of breaking down barriers between people or communities is through simple, unforced acts of kindness. One act can undo years of estrangement.”
-Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks
BA CAMP IS ON ITS WAY!
It was extremely exciting watching the Bnei Akiva sign up list grow by the minute. After less than 48 hours, we had 81 Chanichim signed up for camp, leading us to close sign ups and form a waiting list.
We are looking at different solutions and are working day and night to try to make camp possible for everyone!
As you know, flying in Australian Madrichim is not a possibility at this point which means we have less man power to run camp.
Thank you for the support and love, we are grateful to see Bnei Akiva has become the youth movement it is today.
THE GREAT BIG CHALLAH BAKE!
Wow! What a night! When arriving here, we dreamed of a community coming together, enjoying , celebrating and bringing in to their lives, Shabbat and tradition.
This year it became reality.
The great big Challah bake was an amazing kick off to such a busy and meaningful weekend.
With more than 100 women, we all united around the tradition of making Challah for Shabbat and completing the Mitzvah of “Hafrashat Challah” the separation of the dough.
The night was led by women from all communities. We had a wonderful MC, TED talks, artists and many talented women help make the night possible.
Together with Yael Hacohen, Esther Hecht and Malindy Rose we worked hard to create a memorable night for all.
Alice celebrates her Bat Mitzvah!
For those of you that missed Shul on Friday night, it was definitely a memorable night.
With so much presence, confidence and talent, Alice led Kabbalat Shabbat for all the women.
While sitting in the audience it was wonderful remembering the sweet “little” Alice that showed up to the first Bat Mitzvah class and then looking at the mature and powerful Alice standing up and leading a group of women in Tfila.
As always, we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know Alice and grateful for the time we had studying together.
Mazal Tov Alice and the whole Nathan family!
Community Lunch
Continuing the celebration of the Shabbat project, many community members got together for lunch & bingo at the AHC this Shabbat.
We had a blast watching all attendees—women and men, kids and adults—participate and enjoy the bingo game.
Thank you Deli for supplying us lunch and thank you to all you amazing community members that joined the fun!
To many more :)
Joint Wellington-Auckland Havdallah
So fun having Rabbi Tal finish off this lovely weekend with a musical and fun Havdallah :)
Thank you Wellington community and kids for leading the way and thank you Aucklanders for joining in :)
Hebrew Club Challah
In the spirit of the Shabbat project and our Challah bake, also the Hebrew club enjoyed some Challah baking and learnt about “Hafrashat Challah”.
It was great making Challot together and even better, eating them fresh out of the oven :)
See you next week!
Young Adults Hang Out
You might not see them but they are here! We love having the young adults over for some dinner and drinks so we can catch up on where they’re all at and what they’re up to. Some fun photos in next weeks Shavuon.
This week we enjoyed a homemade spaghetti and meatballs dinner with some great discussions.
Looking forward to the next time!
Mazal Tov Isobella Norton
We are so excited to be celebrating Bella’s Bat Mitzvah this Shabbat!
We know she will rock it and can’t wait to sing and dance together.
Mazal Tov Norton family!
Responsibility at Kadimah
The senior group at Kadimah is now learning “the hard way” what it’s like to be responsible.
Their teachers have given each student a “baby” and they have to care for it as if it were a real baby.
We loved watching them at Tfila leading the rest of the school while holding “their baby”.
What a creative way of teaching.
Coming up
