Shabbat Vayetzei
Consistency is the key
When we first arrived here, we felt the measure of our success would rely on numbers.
How many showed up? How big was an event?
With time we understand that numbers are a bonus, but not the goal. The quality of our events and what attendees are achieving from our events, are now our goal.
Every Saturday night we have a joint Havdalah on Zoom.
Now that Shabbat ends late, we figured we might stop hosting Havdalah on Zoom. Upon reflection we realised that we will be doing it in our home anyway, so we have continued with sharing on Zoom.
So, for most people, it’s late but for some, thanks to the Havdalah on Zoom we started during the first lockdown in March, they now can do it on their own.
Diane and Vernon join us every Saturday night and have shared with us that they now know how to make Havdalah and make sure they don’t miss making it almost every Shabbat.
It was music to our ears and we were really happy to hear that for at least one home, we have changed a little something.
Camp is on its way!
This week we interviewed new Wellingtonian Mads joining in to reinforce and make camp bigger and better! (Thanks Rabbi Tal!!).
Our amazing kitchen crew also spent Sunday baking some delicious treats for our campers.
We are so excited to be working on such a big and exciting camp, led by the amazing Florence Cohen-Smith.
This camp is being planned to the smallest details and we can’t wait to live it up together this summer!
Prepare yourself for a once in a lifetime experience coming your way. . .
Kabbalat Shabbat preparations
We are so lucky to help prepare the presenting class for their Kabbalat Shabbat every week.
It’s always fascinating getting a new group and thinking together about the Parasha, what we can get out of it and what we can teach our classmates.
All students of Kadimah are now at the point of knowing the songs and different blessings we have at the Shabbat meals.
Good job guys!
Conversational Hebrew Club meets Moroccan donuts!
There is no doubt when it comes to Sfinj, you will not resist yourself.
Sfinj is a traditional Moroccan donut made on Chanukah. Many top their donuts with icing sugar, honey or chocolate.
This week at Hebrew class we had a sneak peak of Chanukah and enjoyed some delicious Sfinj and Dreidel competitions.
Culture Day at Kadimah
We love Culture Day and find it to be very fun as well as interesting!!
Dancing the Hora with the adorable pre-school is definitely a highlight yet having our little “Shlicha” Naveh taking part this year, is extremely exciting.
The kids looked wonderful and we had a blast.
Thank you KPFA for organizing such a wonderful day for all!
JNA- What would you do?
There are many times in life we meet a confusing situation that leaves us wondering what is the right thing to do.
On Tuesday night we challenged our teens and got them thinking and connecting to a deeper side of life.
This obviously would not be possible without filling up on homemade Falafel, Hummus, Israeli salad and fries.
While rolling Falafels in the kitchen for quite a bit, we were thinking of how lucky we are to have this quality time with our teens that hopefully, one day, will lead many others in the Jewish community.
Did someone say- ALIYAH?!
This week we had the privilege of signing papers for a Kiwi soon to be making Aliyah!!
We were so excited to take a small part in this BIG and exciting move.
If you have any questions regarding Aliyah, you know where to find us :)
Peula writing day
The great BA Mads got together and started planning each and every Peula for camp while thinking of fun, creative and meaningful Peulot that will have all campers as engaged as possible.
This might sound easy but it’s far from it.
We know being a youth leader is not easy and are full of appreciation to all those that took the time and spent the day planning and creating amazing programs.
