Shavuot

Yom Yerushalayim with Kadimah Students

Today, in honor of Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day), the students of Kadimah created their own “Western Wall” together.

Each brick in this wall began as a personal prayer, written by a child for themselves, their family, their people, and the world. The papers were then folded into bricks and joined together to build one shared Kotel, made from the hopes, dreams, gratitude and prayers of our community.

Yom Yerushalayim marks the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967 and reminds us of the deep connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem throughout history. Just as Jews around the world place written prayers in the stones of the Kotel in Jerusalem, our students added their own voices and hearts to this special wall.

This display represents something beautiful: many individual prayers coming together to create one strong and meaningful community.

Bar & Bat Mitzvah Class - Rosh Chodesh and Shavuot

On Sunday, we started our session with a festive Shacharit and a yummy brunch, celebrating Rosh Chodesh Sivan together.

During the lesson itself, we began by exploring the different names of Shavuot, the customs associated with it and the reasons we celebrate it.

We then moved on to a fascinating discussion comparing the story of Book of Ruth and Cinderella. Through the comparison, we spoke about personal responsibility, initiative, and the importance of actively shaping our own future, not simply waiting for things to happen, but taking meaningful steps to create opportunities and make things happen for ourselves.

It was a thoughtful and engaging sessions and the students brought wonderful ideas and insights into the conversation.
