Bar & Bat Mitzvah Class - Honouring Our Parents & Lag BaOmer
On Sunday, we explored two different themes together during our Bar & Bat Mitzvah Class.
For our first lesson, we learned about the story of Rabbi Tarfon and the way he honoured his mother through a short role play, discussed the Ten Commandments and what “honouring parents” can look like in real life today, and the students each wrote a personal gratitude list for their parents.
We also had a special Lag BaOmer session where we played a fun game counting up to 33 (the Hebrew numerical equivalent to Lag), learned about the significance of Lag BaOmer, including Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, and made creative bonfire-themed crafts together.
During our break, we created a birthday board for the group, so we can celebrate everyone throughout the year.
It was a fun and thoughtful session, with lots of participation and creativity from the kids 😊
