Parashat Re’eh
We are heartbroken with the passing of Mr David Hofman this week.
Our thoughts are with Dinky, Gayle (and Tom), Steven (and Ariel), Gary and the extended Hofman families at this time, wishing you all long life.
David was a remarkable educator and family man who will be remembered by his love for Mathematics, his curiosity and his kindness.
He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Farewell to the Shamir Family🤍
This week, we said goodbye to the Shamir family, Yaniv, Na’ama, Ma’ayan, Zohar, Yahel and baby Ziv, as they conclude their three years of shlichut in New Zealand and begin an exciting new chapter in Hong Kong.
We arrived in New Zealand just one week apart, and over the past three years our journeys have become deeply intertwined. Alongside the friendship we built as families, our community has been fortunate to benefit from Yaniv and Na’ama's dedication and meaningful contribution.
At Kadimah School, Yaniv taught Hebrew and Jewish Studies, and together we had the privilege of bringing the Jewish calendar to life, celebrating the Chaggim and sharing the richness of the Jewish year with our students. In shul, Yaniv and Na’ama faithfully led the kid’s Service every Shabbat, creating a warm, engaging space where children could learn about the weekly Parashah and connect with Jewish life in a meaningful way. For many families, this became a cherished part of their Shabbat experience.
For our own family, these years were also a shared personal journey. We celebrated Shabbatot and Chaggim together, marked birthdays, travelled, shared meals, watched our children grow up side by side, and supported one another through all the big and small moments that come with shlichut. We always knew we had friends we could rely on, people to turn to for advice, and neighbours who were always ready to help.
Thank you, Yaniv, Na’ama, Ma’ayan, Zohar, Yahel and Ziv, for your friendship, your dedication, and everything you have given to our community over the past three years.
We wish you every success as you begin this exciting new chapter in Hong Kong. We know that the community there will be incredibly fortunate to have you, and we look forward to the day when we can all meet again in Israel.
